![]() ![]() ![]() The above-mentioned setlist represents the circulating audio from this show. Springsteens second (late) show was broadcast live on WLIR-FM as part of its weekly Tuesday evening simulcast from My Father’s Place. Opening of a sellout, 3-night (6-show) residency. TWO shows, double bill, with Springsteen headlining and Nashville-based country singer-songwriter ALEX HARVEY on the undercard. Notes: Broadcast on WMMR radio in Philadelphia, PA, this show highlights some of Bruce’s early stories, including the hilarious draft avoidance story and the Ducky Slattery’s “Wanna buy a duck?” story. The circulating audio is missing the opening seconds of “Lost In The Flood”. Given Bruce’s restricted performing time as the opening act, the circulating audio is likely to represent the complete performance. The above-mentioned setlist derives from an excellent quality soundboard recording that began circulating in the mid-1990’s. Ironically Bill Graham, who’d nearly signed Bruce/Steel Mill 3 years earlier, orchestrated this concert. ONE show, 8PM, double bill, with Springsteen opening for headliners BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS. Track 1 is listed wrong on the liner notes for The Bruce Springsteen Story Volume 5 W/ Miami Steve, Southside Johnny, Garry Tallent, Danny Federici, Vini Lopez, Kevin Connair, other musicians and even some non-musicians Also released in 2004 by Freedom for America Records) (Includes artwork for The Bruce Springsteen Story - Volume 5 by E St Records. Two of the three songs are included in this show, “He’s Guilty” and “The Train Song” the third song was “Goin’ Back to Georgia.” Available on the CD “Live at the Matrix,” which uses a soundboard recording as the source.Ħ. After playing several dates in San Francisco early in 1970, the band records three songs for Bill Graham, who offers them a $1,000 recording contract which the band declines. Notes: Steel Mill, one of several pre-E Street Bands Bruce formed, featured Danny Federici, Vini Lopez, and Vini Roslin (Robbin Thompson didn’t join the band until the band returned to New Jersey the following month). All links come from this friend and I have not verified that they all work so you’ll have to find out for yourself. If anybody has any of the bootlegs that are missing from this list or knows some other place online to find them can you please let me know? Would love to be able to collect the entire thing. He’s graciously letting me share those links and has put in a request. A friend of the site recently sent me that list and links to all the shows he had collected on it. Several years ago some Bruce fans created a list of the top 55 Springsteen bootlegs. "Happy Birthday Rock & Roll" has the magic, and the other singles released by Ronnie during the '70s would be nice additions to Siren on an extended CD package.Kind of lengthy, doesn't have links to all the concerts mentioned, but still hopefully interesting to Springsteen fans This album came after Ronnie's exquisite "Say Goodbye to Hollywood" and before the Columbia Unfinished Business album, both neatly compiled on the aforementioned Dangerous disc on Raven. In her book Be My Baby on page 248, Ronnie says " Genya was a strong producer who knew what she wanted, just like Phil." High praise indeed. And here's the classic '60s voice which ruled on Top 40 for five hit records in 19 rocking out with the best of them on songs like "Settin' the Woods on Fire" with backing by the Diamond Dupree Band, or singing to the reggae beat of the Bahama Mama Band on Roger Cook's "Let Your Feelings Show." If Phil Spector overproduced to good effect, Genya Ravan purposely underproduced, choosing instead to let flavors of different musicians paint the fabric behind Ronnie Spector. The new wave was just cresting with Willie Alexander, producer/singer Genya Ravan, Ian Hunter, Mink DeVille, the Shirts, and so many others releasing substantial records that mainstream radio turned its back on. Members of Johnny Thunders' Heartbreakers, the Dead Boys, and Mink DeVille must have been honored to appear on this, and the musical integrity and heart is there, for sure. ![]() It has a street feel much like Ronnie Spector's solo concerts over the years. It was conceived and produced by the legendary Genya Ravan (aka Goldie Zelcowicz) of one of the first all-girl bands, Goldie & the Gingerbreads. There are many extraordinary things about Ronnie Spector's Siren album. ![]()
